I want each holiday to feel really distinct from each other and because we Jews celebrate so many holdiays, this can be rather difficult! But what I like to do for the Yom Kippur pre- or post- fast meals is a really simple, white-on-white table. White on Yom Kippur is very symbolic. White symbolizes purity and the unblemished. During this time, it is common even for people to wear white to project the purity and goodness we hope we have achieved through the atonement of our sins.
This table expresses these same sentiments. Only white is used, the candles, extremely long and thin provide a striking simplicity, and sparse table linen and decoration suggest austerity. Food on such a table can really be appreciated.
