Regular readers of Chai & Home know I’m a big fan of blue Staffordshire china so I was excited to see Barbara Shaw Gifts building out this ‘Haggadah’ line for Passover the last couple of years. If you love blue but think Spode is too stuffy for you, this Passover seder set from Barbara Shaw Gifts might just be the thing. Designed by Dov Abramson Studio in Jerusalem, the series features playful imagery and text that relates to Springtime and the Exodus story. The line has everything you would need for Passover: seder plate, matzah cover, afikomen bag, netilat yadayim towel, trivets…and more!
My biggest tip when working with blue is to limit the amount of blue, so your table doesn’t look like a little boy’s birthday party. Here I only added some blue napkins and I let the seder set do the work. What I love about this seder set is that because it is playful, it goes with a lot of the cheaper haggadot you will find, including The Family Haggadah II that I use regularly.
The seder plate is a good size and is dishwasher safe.
The matzah cover is huge and can easily fit an entire tray of matzah, including the round shmurah matzah.
There are even 10 plagues coasters
The afikomen bag sure beats using a napkin and getting crumbs everywhere when the kids find it.
The trivet can be used to protect your table against hot items or decoratively, as I did here with my creamer set.
Pug dog not included
